Q: What is manufactured stone veneer? A: Manufactured stone, cultured, feaux stone, these
are different names given to the same man-made stone replica product. TriLite Stone products are taken from natural stone
to embrace the shapes and textures that Mother Nature has to offer. The basic materials are natural and include a blend
of Portland cement, iron oxide color pigments and lightweight aggregate. When stripped from the molds, you have a veneer
that looks, feels and lasts like natural stone, but lighter in weight and thus, easier to install. |
Q: Will the stone all look the same? A: So much of the charm and character of natural stone is the
diversity, the subtle variations in color (s), texture, depth, profile, etc. Our efforts are to provide that same look and
therefore, give the customer as much randomness as possible. |
Q: Are there restrictions in the application of the stone? A: TriLite Stone has been used in a
myriad of design presentations. New construction (both residential and commercial), remodeling and restoration projects.
Standard applications are exterior walls and interior fireplaces, but the use of TriLite Stone has grown to include family
entertainment rooms, retaining walls, wine cellars, bath/whirl pool areas, staircases, studies, outdoor grills and barbeques,
and much more. |
Q: What style is best? A: This is a very frequently asked question, and a couple of points may be
helpful. First, personal preference is always a key. Stone can allow for individual expression and color accents. And even more
"traditional" stone styles, can still offer the contemporary home design a wonderful complement. If too much of the same product
is featured in an area or development, we often find a person choosing something to make their home or project stand out.
Secondly, there may be some practical considerations for stone selection in some more extreme temperature areas of the country.
It is recommended to use a stone style that allows for mortar as a means to prevent freeze/thaw problems should moisture enter
between the joints. Colored mortar can be a way of offering a more drystack look, yet the protection of a mortar joint. (Please
consult a local supplier of mortar for some ideas and tips.) |
Q: How is the stone cleaned if mortar gets on it during installation? A: The first thing to note
is prevention. By that, always be attentive to the texture of the mortar as it reaches a somewhat more dry, and crumbly level.
It's always easier to clean mortar at that stage rather than too soon (wet mortar), or too late (hard mortar). If an area is
missed, use a mild solution of warm water and tri-sodium phosphate with a stiff bristled brush. BE SURE TO NEVER
USE ACID TO CLEAN THE STONE OR FACIAL COLORINGS WILL BE DAMAGED. |
Q: When will the stone be delivered? A: Size of order will certainly make a difference, but the
general delivery schedule is within two weeks of order for orders of 500 ft. or less (and most often, the schedule allows
for faster delivery). |
Q: What warranty protection can I expect? A: TriLite Stone provides a limited warranty of 50
years. That information is located for download on our website on Helpful Downloads. |
